too much tv

i think i watch too much tv and Tivo is the cause. when i was in Manila, i hardly watched any tv because i didn't know the schedules. i didn't make any effort to find out because i knew my Tivo would be recording Inuyasha and Project Runway. instead, i spent most nights (and days, while sitting in traffic) re-reading my old books. i must have re-read close to 20 books during my two week stay. i wanted to continue that trend when i got home but i've been sidetracked by the aforementioned contraption, some contruction on our apartment's entranceway, and jet lag.

to restart the process, i do have a book i want to read. Piers Anthony's And Eternity is the last book of the Incarnations of Immortality series. one that wasn't available nine years ago in Manila. i also have a stack of books from our laundry room "libarary" that i have been meaning to read. obviously, most of these are of middling interest to me, but one of them i've started to read: Clive Barker's Everville. never been a big fan of his (books or movies) so this book is just plodding along. but i struggle on because i need to get into the reading bug.

storms

it seems i brought the storms with me. Chicago was hit with a powerful thunderstorm last night, causing lots of flooding, power outages, and downed trees. a few days ago, Manila was inundated by the worst typhoon in 10 years. it was so powerful it knocked down thousands of trees, power lines, and billboards. lots of damage. Manila lost power for nearly three days. i'm glad to be back.

trip home

tonight, i will be flying home to manila for the first time in nearly 10 years. from what everyone who has been home recently, manila has changed a lot (except the traffic, which remains horrible). i'm looking forward to seeing the changes and also seeing my family and friends. there will be lots of picture-taking and, hopefully, i will post them when i get back.

top ten reasons

top ten reasons why nobody reads your blog

1. You're not a good-looking female who likes posting naked pictures of herself.

i originally started blogging as a way to keep my friends/family updated. but i've realized that they don't care. more importantly, my family doesn't want to know about my gay ole life. so now i'm just going to post naked pictures of myself.

99. drinking

ideally, this hobby will put me into more contact with other people. i am somewhat anti-social so this will help break the ice.

charles barkley

i've always thought charles barkley is an ass, but at least he is an honest ass. now, also an equal-rights ass.
